In Hueco Mundo, the hollow Grand Fisher transforms into an imperfect arrancar and makes his way to the human world. Meanwhile, Shinji Hirako enrolls at Ichigo's school. During a routine hollow purification, Ichigo is confronted by Shinji, who shows that he can willingly produce a hollow mask just like Ichigo has done unconsciously on occasion. He asks Ichigo to join his group: the vizard. At the same time, Kon (inhabiting Ichigo's body) is attacked by Grand Fisher and Ishida is attacked by another imperfect arrancar he identifies as a Menos Grande. Ishida is rescued by his father, who reveals himself to be a Quincy, while Kon remains helpless against Grand Fisher.
